Introduction

To be better prepared to face the current and future AI-infused society, it is important for students to have basic understanding on AI. With the support of the Li Ka Shing Foundation (LKSF) donation and UGC Research Matching Grant Scheme, the aidcec has been offering an “Artificial Intelligence Literacy Programme” to all Secondary Grade 4 to 6 students in Hong Kong. The Programme is FREE and the EdUHK provide participants with corresponding learning and teaching materials.

AI Literacy Programme

Our Award-winning AIL Programme

aidcec was announced the In-house Winner of the 2022 Gold Standard Award for Public/Private Partnership for its Artificial Intelligence Literacy (AIL) Programme on 30 June.

The event was organised by PublicAffairsAsia and the Public Relations and Communications Association Asia Pacific. The award-judging panel comprised renowned figures from the public affairs, corporate affairs and communication sectors.

As of the Summer of 2023, more than 600 students from 60 secondary schools have joined or enrolled the AIL programme.

AI Literacy Programme

Lite Version

We are delighted to invite your students to join a lite version of our AI Literacy Programme. The lite version comprises the first two courses of our Programme, focusing on Machine Learning and Deep Learning. The total 18 hours will be completed within 1 week.

The Programme aims to equip students with AI concepts and ethical consideration, develop their awareness of AI, and empower them with AI to shape the future society. The 58-hour AI Literacy Programme has four levels of courses with details below:

Course 1: Understanding Machine Learning

Key topics:

    • Introduction to AI
    • Five steps of applying machine learning to solve problems
    • Supervised and unsupervised learning

Course 2: Understanding Deep Learning

Key topics:

    • Further discussion on applying machine learning
    • Introduction to neural network
    • Overview of computer vision
    • Introduction to convolution neural network (CNN)

Course 3: Developing Artificial Intelligence Applications

Key topics:

    • Case studies of AI applications and related ethical considerations
    • Instructions on the selected platforms for application development
    • Project development and presentation

Course 4: Exploring Real-Life AI Application Development

Key topics:

    • Connection between concepts, mathematical representations and coding implementations of AI algorithms
    • Common Python packages for machine learning
    • Natural Language Processing (NLP)
    • Audio classification and speech recognition
    • Generative Adversarial Networks (GAN)
    • Developing real-life solutions with AI computer packages to shape the future society
